This is a small glimpse into what’s currently unfolding in my studio—a space where ideas are constantly evolving and new directions are always taking shape. My practice moves fluidly between digital illustration and gouache painting, and I often alternate between the two. Gouache allows for rich, tactile expression and hand-drawn nuance, while digital work gives me the freedom to refine, layer, and develop pieces with precision. Together, they create a balance between spontaneity and control that defines my style.

I’m especially drawn to the challenge of transforming artwork into seamless repeating patterns. There’s something incredibly satisfying about taking a single illustration and expanding it into a rhythm that can live across fabric, wallpaper, stationery, and homewares. It opens up endless possibilities—turning a moment or motif into something immersive and functional.

Pattern design is something I discovered during my studies in graphic design, and it completely shifted the way I think about composition. Learning how to build a repeat was a turning point, but learning how to translate my own illustrations into that format took it to another level. It pushed me to think not just about the artwork itself, but how it interacts, flows, and tells a story across a surface.

I naturally gravitate towards designing in collections, with each piece thoughtfully considered as part of a bigger picture. I think about how colours, motifs, and scale work together across different applications—whether that’s a hero print, coordinating patterns, or complementary colourways. This approach allows for versatility in the end product, making it easy to translate designs across a range of items while maintaining a cohesive and recognisable aesthetic.
